Stories and Worlds of Games

My experience in both movies and games of these areas is why I became a top name recruited for game films, adaptations, and experimental interactive storytelling projects. The linear vs branching and looping nature of each is different, but the core craft of character creation, worldbuilding, and storytelling are very much universal.

KUNG-FU PANDA | Dreamworks SKG

  • Studio tapped me to lead game dev after Story.

  • Worldbuilding beyond the film.

  • Online MMO Game Design and playable demo’s.

  • DDR/Fighting mashup became first sequel.

WRECK-IT RALPH | Walt Disney Feature Animation

  • Recruited to solve studio “not a video game movie” note.

  • Redeveloped Hero’s Duty and Sugar Rush as games.

  • Rewriting scenes through lens of Narrative Design.

  • Success earned us a ride on the Disney Private Jet!

DUMBGEON MASTERS | Google ATAP

  • Recruited to write/direct a project for new VR system.

  • Each character had a unique narrative and genre.

  • Characters based on STR, DEX, CON, INT, WIS, CHA

  • Developed player-driven cinematography styles.

MINIONS & MONSTERS | Illumination

  • Tapped by Illumination to pitch original (1970’s) short film

  • Chose original D&D (So I could work on something RPG).

  • Wrote and Directed with an emphasis on authenticity.

  • Balancing general audience with game-familiar audience.

SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE | Illumination - Nintendo

  • Worldbuilding and Adapting Characters for film.

  • Tapped to help with a greenlight pitch to Nintendo.

  • My story beats lauded by Miyamoto-san!

  • Led first year of story, juggling w Directing Short.

TBA RPG SERIES | TBA AAA Game Studio (Japan)

  • Created pitch to sell project for development rights.

  • Created second pitch to greenlight development of show.

  • Assigned to Write/Direct series.

  • Wrote full first season of adaptation (36 episodes).
